SA State Titles
The final two Sharpie state heats that were sponsored by Butterfields Services were scheduled to be sailed at Adelaide Sailing Club on Sunday February 26th. However, due to light conditions only one race was sailed.
It was a very interesting race, with some close racing on display and the 2011/12 SA Sharpie state championship in the balance, with Blur, All Scoobed Out and Warpig all capable of taking out the honours.
Positions were tight at the top end of the fleet, but as they say, 'the cream always rises to the top' and the five-time and reigning sharpie national champion shone through. Blur (M.Higgins, A.Chisholm & S.Sanderson) took the heat 10 win, Under The Radar (P.Kirk, J.Richardson & P.Duffield) sailed a quality race, finishing with a second and Bung Fritz (N.Deussen, J.Clark & M.Hansen) continued their form from Lincoln Week with a third.
Blur won the series in a 'come-from-behind' fashion after his win, All Scoobed Out (D.Higgins, M.Kretschmer & R.Turton) finished the series in second place and Warpig (G.McCloud, M.Beaumont & S.Flint) clinched third.
Another historic Sharpie season is in the books and yet another chip on the shoulder of Mal Higgins… The legend just keeps on 'legending'
